Dance Flash Mob
We are looking for dancers who would like to participate in a series of dance flash mobs during some summer events to promote PORTALS, an art exhibit I am putting on in October. This is an opportunity to join in some community engagement, dance with dancers across all the dance types and communities in Squamish, and represent who you dance with.
We need 30-50 dancers ages 12-90(youths under 18 accompanied by an adult). There are 2 confirmed opportunities to perform: July 26th at Squamish Arts festival, and August on one of the Thursday evenings during Amped in the park (specific date tba,) and potentially a third at the Brackendale fall fair. Participation is welcome for any of the events, come for one or all.
Choreography would be learned online in a zoom class and with a video. There will be one in person rehearsal to go over the simple choreography before the first flashmob in July (date tba).
The dance is 3 minutes (maximum), and not everyone will be dancing the whole time, if you have a preference to dance less, please let me know. Non dancers are welcome as the dance itself will not be complex.
Dress code is everyday clothes, but if some of your dancers have logo t-shirts representing your school or society they can wear them under a sweater and reveal them as they start dancing. It would be lovely to see everyone represented.
