The portal between the hanged man and death.

The hanged man represents an irrevocable shift in perspective: we cannot go back to seeing the world the way we once did. We step into the flow of change and cannot turn back.

When our perceptual experience is distorted our sense of orientation is suspended; a space opens up to experience something different. It is in the difference that new possibilities arise which were not present before.

Dancers: Carmen Chornell, Paige Freeman, Robyn Monk, Sarah Cochrane

In this dance piece our relationship to gravity is not taken for granted - each person will experience it in their own unique way. Eventually all the rules are unmoored and perceptual orientation through space changes, opening us to new possibilities. Each dancer is part of the cosmic whole: consciousness moves through each unique individual while remaining universal, much like the experience of death- is a universal truth that each of us will relate to and experience differently. In spirit traditions and religion throughout the world, humans imagine a space where the spirit/ soul continues its journey when the body dies.

Music: Gravity

Micheal Hewitt

Ethereal and somewhat dissonant, the music evokes a sense of an otherworldly state. Shamanic drumming invites awareness to shift into altered states of consciousness. From within these states we are able to experience the world from a new vantage point. Freed from the constraints of the everyday mind we have the opportunity to glimpse infinity.
