The portal between temperance and the devil.
Where compassion, illusion, and art meet. For change to take root, something must first fall apart. In the depths of sorrow we find vulnerability and acceptance. We can only truly face the darkest parts of ourselves when we have been humbled. The freedom from suffering lies not in the avoidance of this expression, but in the surrender to feel it fully.

Set amongst a poem strewn in pieces, fragmented parts are reorganized to create something beautiful. In the impermanence of life we love and so we grieve, for all shall come to pass. Everything recycled, renewed with each turn of the wheel. The temperance angel represents art we make from our pain, compassion for our suffering, and the grief that is an inherent part of loving.
Temperance Jugs
Ashley Dodd
Ceramic jugs emulate the jugs present in the imagery of the Temperance archetype. Here the hubris of the devil’s fallen star and the grace of angel wings link intuition and intellect. These are the messengers at death’s threshold.
